Around cathedrale of CHARTRES

At 1h of Paris, the city is coiled around its cathedral.

Henri IV is the only king of France sacred in this cathedral, and not at Reims, as was customary. Reims and Paris were indeed held at that time by the Army of the Catholic League and opposed to the King regarding his Protestant religion.

Overall, I was very disappointed by CHARTRES and the restoration done to the middle-age houses. Instead of highlighting the half-timbered houses of these old houses, the city choosed to apply a gray mortar on the walls.

The result is so UG-GLY !!! A massacre !! A gray colored and not charming city !
A bad rank also for the shops around the cathedral that made access to WC a real business !!!

A 1h de Paris, la ville est lovée autour de sa cathédrale.

Henri IV est le seul roi de France sacré dans cette cathédrale et non pas à Reims, comme le voulait la coutume. Reims et Paris étaient en effet tenus à cette époque par l’armée de la Ligue catholique et s’opposaient au roi à cause de sa religion protestante.

Globalement, j’ai été très déçu par CHARTRES et la restauration faite aux vieilles maisons moyennageuses. Au lieu de mettre en valeur les colombages de ces vieilles maisons, la ville a fait le choix d’appliquer un mortier gris sur les murs.

Le résultat est A-BO-MI-NA-BLE !!! Un massacre !! Une ville grise et sans charme !

Une mauvaise note aussi aux boutiques autour de la cathédrale qui ont fait de l’accès aux WC un véritable business !!!
